Building Beyond Limits: The Hackathon of the Summer That’s Elevating Banking Solutions

If you have a passion for building better, bolder banking solutions, the Alkami Hackathon is your chance to make a difference.

Innovation gets talked about a lot, but at Alkami, we’re focused on what actually moves the needle when it comes to banking solutions. In a world where buzzwords are easy and outcomes are hard, we believe innovation means delivering real, market-driven solutions that financial institutions and their account holders genuinely need. That’s the difference between talking the talk and building beyond the roadmap.

As technology accelerates, financial institutions share a common challenge: how to keep building what’s next—especially when it feels like everything’s already been done, or the next move isn’t clear. That’s where anticipatory banking takes the lead: using data-driven insight to proactively meet account holders’ needs before they even surface, creating intelligent, personalized banking experiences that set a new standard.

That spirit of forward-thinking is what fuels our 2025 Alkami Hackathon. From August 26-28th, we’re opening the doors to our HQ in Plano, Texas, for a two-day event where bold ideas break barriers and innovation gets built—not pitched. This isn’t just a hackathon. It’s a launchpad for real, impactful digital banking solutions. Our theme this year, Building Beyond Limits, challenges participants to think bigger and build smarter. Developers will team up with Alkami engineers to extend capabilities, elevate features, and reimagine what’s possible in digital banking.

What is a Hackathon?

A hackathon is a fast-paced, collaborative event where teams work intensively, over a short period of time (typically 24 hours) to design and build around a specific challenge or theme. It’s part competition, part creative sprint, and it all ends with teams presenting their finished projects to a panel of judges and peers for a chance to win awards and prizes.

What is the Alkami Hackathon?

This event is designed for engineers, developers, fintech innovators, and financial institutions who are ready to build beyond the roadmap. The Alkami Hackathon brings together cross-functional teams to innovate using Alkami’s software development kit (SDK). This isn’t just a competition, it’s a hands-on experience where ideas are explored, tested, and brought to life. Whether you specialize in frontend, backend, full-stack, mobile development, or wear multiple hats — this is your space to explore, create, and grow.

Participants will collaborate with Alkami engineers, fellow fintech partners, and financial institutions to push the boundaries of what’s possible on the digital banking platform. The goal? Go beyond the limits of traditional platform constraints and deliver smarter, faster, more personalized banking experiences—together.

Why Participate?

The Alkami Hackathon is your opportunity to make a real impact. By participating you will gain:

  • Hands-on experience with Alkami’s SDK
  • Real-time problem solving with other developers and Alkami engineers
  • New skills you can put to work immediately
  • A chance to connect, compete, and walk away with prizes (and bragging rights)
  • Build lasting relationships with fellow innovators

“I came out of the event with four new SDK developer friends. We plan to keep in touch and continue to collaborate in the future.” – Participant from the 2024 Co:lab Hackathon

Whether you’re solving a technical challenge or unlocking new value for users, this is your chance to build beyond limits, and get noticed doing it.

The Spirit of Collaboration

At its core, the Alkami Hackathon is about more than just code, it’s about community. Each team will be intentionally built to include a mix of participants from Alkami, financial institutions, and fintech partners, bringing together diverse perspectives, skillsets, and goals. It’s this fusion of real-world problems, creative minds, and technical expertise that makes the magic happen.

This isn’t a solo sprint—it’s a shared journey to create something bigger than any one organization could build alone. Whether you’re a developer, product leader, or innovation strategist, you’ll leave with connections, ideas, and the momentum to keep building beyond the event.
